How to convert a mobiel phone charger for use in China PDF Print E-mail
1)Determine whether or not you need a voltage converter. As previously stated, China runs on 220V and the United States runs on 110V. A voltage converter is needed for certain appliances to convert 220V into 110V and prevent your device from blowing out. Fortunately, most cell phone chargers do not require a voltage converter because they have a dual voltage setting built into the device. You can confirm this is true by examining the charger for notation that it runs 110V to 220V.

2)Purchase a power adapter. Adapters can found by visiting your local electronics store. Adapters are inexpensive and shouldn't break your travel budget. You place the adapter directly into the Chinese socket which will convert it to the outlet size that fits your need. (See Resources)

3)Purchase a Chinese cell phone charger. If you'd rather play it safe, you can settle your nerves by purchasing a cell phone charger that has a Chinese outlet type for your specific phone. Chinese cell phone chargers can be found online at various cell phone charger retailers. If you prefer, you can wait until you arrive in China. International airports often have cell phone stands with chargers and foreign SIM cards for the frequent traveler.
